Jumong Korean Restaurant

Jumong Korean Restaurant

Day 1

Sam Geob Sal (Samgyeopsal) & Jjapagaeti

It was my first time in a full blown Korean restaurant. Not for Queen. She even has her own version of Sam Geob Sal at home. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of Sam Geob Sal, you just fry seasoned pork slices in a fryer that drains excess fats and then you wrap it in lettuce with other condiments you wish to add. A healthy dish. Queen even talked in detail (while eating) how it helps her with her bowel business.

On with the restaurant... It was a cozy place. The branch that we went to had the korean feel to it. Even had closed rooms with sliding doors. You also have to take off your shoes and sit on the floor. Eating on a regular table with chairs and shoes is also an option. This was our first time there, we just had to go full korean.

Food. The Sam Geob Sal was just for two, but I eat a lot so we added Jjapagaeti. The Sam Geob Sal was friendly to my taste buds. And to our pockets as well. It was just around 200Php if I remember correctly.
Jjapagaeti... I can't comment too much on that because it was our first time eating it. We are not even sure if it was the 'real deal'. All I can say is that it tasted a lot better than conventional instant noodles that you can get in the stores. The noodle was tasty by itself and the sauce was rich and thick.

Total costs was less than 400Php. Truly a bang for the buck. You did not only pay for good food but for the experience as well. Totally worth it.

Day 2

Yes, We just had to go back. There were so many other dishes we would love to try.

This time we tried the Beef version of Sam Geob Sal and their Fried Chicken.

Of course, Beef would be more expensive than pork hence the expectation was it would taste better. We were wrong. Beef did not get along with the mix, it just didn't seem to fit. Queen is not a fan of beef so I could feel she was very displeased with how it went.
It wasn't all bad. The Korean fried chicken was a game saver. It was tender and tasty on the inside (even the breast part). The breading was simply awesome. I can even compare it with chicken in Bon-Chon but without the garlic sauce.
the price was 350Php for half a chicken. 6 big pieces. Not too bad for the taste that you get.

Overall, the price is good if you know exactly what to order. The experience is just priceless... Service was just 'OK' but Queen had to ask for an ashtray multiple times from the same waitress.

One serious disappointment, their facebook page is out of sync with their actual menu. I browsed their FB site and craved for Ojinga Bokum + Somyeon (it looked so damned good) but when we went there, it wasn't even on the menu. I also noticed that the menu posted in FB was not even half of the menu of the branch. I hope they find a way to resolve this soon.
